Santa Monica: Best eats

We’d probably say that eating is our favourite thing about travel. Discovering new places and flavours, and Santa Monica has so many amazing eateries with fresh, original food that we love!

Kicking off with a place that makes us feel right at home, Little Ruby has locally sourced organic produce is the cornerstone of cuisine in Santa Monica.   Little Ruby  is a newbie in Santa Monica… and it has Australian culinary influences to provide some of the best food, espresso coffee and drinks (yesss to the coffee!). The Australian influence can be seen throughout the menu, with the delicious Coogee, Bronte and Bondi Burgers to the classic Vegemite toast (bahaha, we love to watch our American friends try this one out!). We know we will find someone we know from Byron here!

Just a short walk from the beach, Primo Passo Coffee is a coffee lovers spot on Montana Avenue (the Beverly Hills of Santa Monica) with top-notch beverages, minimalist modern décor, shaded sidewalk seating outside and a stylish glass-heavy space. The café has an extensive and quirky menu, from Encha Organic Matcha Lattes, Individually Brewed Coffees from Indonesia and Costa Rica to Kombucha and Masala Chai. This place is the healthiest way to enjoy a bit of caffeine in a one of our favourite places to try and spot celebs hehe!

Lunetta All Day on Pico Boulevard is a neighbourhood diner, serving inventive breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Great food paired with locally roasted coffee options, classic cocktails, large selection of craft beer and delicious wines that can be enjoyed drinking with family and friends. The diner has a fresh and airy feel to it with large windows lighting up the place, showcasing the mostly sunny days of Santa Monica.. we love long, boozy lunches here!

Flower Child: Healthy Food For A Happy World’ – Prioritises local sourcing of its food, with all their proteins being raised naturally, organic and without additives. The menu is accommodating for all dietary requirements, in particular vegans and vegetarians, making it the go-to spot to dine at for a ‘feel good’ experience. We love this place as part of Walking a Little Lighter whilst travelling.. more on this in HERE.

Cassia celebrates the fresh, vibrant flavours of Southeast Asia, striking a unique balance of soulful, ancestral cuisine and a California sensibility, utilising the best quality ingredients from local farmers. The menu utilises the restaurant’s proximity to the ocean; offering a selection of exquisite seafood platters as well as locally sourced meats and poultry; really in keeping with Santa Monica’s love for locally sourced fresh produce.
