One of the things about living in a town as visually iconic as Byron Bay, is that every inch of it has been photographed a million times. So you could imagine my surprise (and envy!) when I saw this shoot! Where? Where? How? Where? Normally, you can’t take a picture in Byron Bay without some element of tropical green sneaking into the shot –  but here we are, dazzled by dry, creamy tones of a cracked river-bed desert scape I never thought possible in our lush and subtropical surrounds.

Take these creamy tones and set them against the latest Children of the Tribe collection of vibrant 70s-esque snake print, lilacs, aztec print and chambray, and I can’t help but begin to covet this collection for my little ones, and wonder when my little Indi will grow into that ever-so-gorgeous chambray shirt and slouchy pant ensemble… Divine Emma darling, you’ve done it again!

For our April/May 14 Lookbook our Spell muse takes to a sprawling sand-scape in a far away land, lost in a sea of white dunes and gypsy hues, she explores different shades of light and shadow as the sun tracks across the sky.

With florals reminiscent of some a psychedelic Tuscan garden and a muted python print with shadows of hibiscus, both softened by the snowy-white of vintage crochet lace… throw in some trucker tees, raglans and flannel shirts with brass tipped collars, signature Spell slouchies (they’re back!!), sheer dusters and flowing kimonos that catch the wind as you walk – then style it all back with chunky boots, tribal bits and turquoise bobs and you have Spell Fall 14…

Shooting this look-book was beyond challenging. Spelly was breast feeding, and I was 6 months pregnant. But with all great challenges, comes great rewards. We were so proud of ourselves, bringing our vision to life amidst the glorious juggle of family life. With my partner Johnny by my side, and Spell’s twin Luciana on hair and Jagger duty… not to mention the little army of incredible assistants from our Spell team… it all came to life the way we’d dreamed. And Rachel Rutt, with her raven locks lashing with the fierce desert winds, shines as our latest muse.

SHOP THE FIRST DROP OF THIS COLLECTION HERE – and keep your eye on insta and facebook, with lots of new pieces dropping throughout May and June!

xx Lizzy and Spelly

Inspired by the latest Free People bridal inspo look book (Blogged HERE) and a few other Bohemia-bridal shoots and blog posts I’ve spotted lately, a little collection of images in ode to the new bride. Gone are the days where the only choice we had was to scouring through idiotic glossy bridal mags that make you vomit in your throat… Today all you need to do is click on Pinterest or any number of gorgeous bridal blogs like The Lane, to see that brides don’t need to be bogans.

There’s a kind of ‘woodstock-gypsy’ style-fusion that’s happened around bridal wear – where instead of conforming to a standard we can wear the dress we really dreamed of when we were growing up… be it going barefoot in a dress you picked up at a thrift store for $50, a gorgeous lacey number from Stone Cold Fox or Mara Hoffman, or finding a one off dress from a grass-roots label like My Sunday Feeling… the choices are wide open and I love it!

Via: Free People, Bona Drag Ceremonial Collection via Bohemian Diesel, Fox and Bambi, Sheree of Captain & the Gypsy Kid wearing Grace loves Lace, Festival Brides, and a little sneak peek of our latest bridal inspired gown coming in May!

It’s a very ‘welcome back’ for the return of tribal! Free People have nailed the trend, think gladiator sandals, striking aztec prints, flowing neutrals, an abundance of fringe & layer upon layer of dirty silver jewels, for their ‘Sand Dancer’ look book. Just in time for the US festival season; I hope to see a whole lota’ you chicks rocking the trend at Coachella, dancing among the sand, the stars, the moon & letting your free spirits flow. It’s the perfect balance between bohemian babe & all class.

When Planet Blue sent us their 2014 Festival Look book a few thoughts ran through my frazzled little head. ‘Where’s my backstage Coachella ticket?!’ was one, hehe… but really I just thought back to my festival heydays.

When what you wore to a festival was as important as the music itself. Not in a ‘poser’ way, but because what you wear to a festival is part of the whole Escaping from Reality experience. I used to wear outfits I’d have NEVER worn out normally… fringe on fringe, turquoise on turquoise, flow on flow… And the best part, you have to give-in and sacrifice every festival outfit to the festival-gods… you know that each outfit may not make it out alive… it may return home covered in mud and sweat and bindies, ripped to shreds, or may get left at some random camp-sight and never heard from again…

I love how much the US embrace festival season. We’re just lucky we get to play along with wonderful Fall and Winter festivals like Blues Fest and Splendour round the corner (and literally on our doorstep here in Byron).

Loving this look book btw! Love the tie dyed silk frills and tribal flourishes… Keep it com’n Planet Blue… We’ll just have to pair it all with a pair of welly’s and one of our Ponchos.
