Your skin health cannot solely rely on the products you apply, it is important to start your regime from within. Eating the right foods is not only essential for your internal health, but also for healthier, acne free skin.
For centuries, numerous cultures and health practices including Ayurveda, apply the very basic science of; the skin reflects what’s happening on the inside. Acne is the reflection of a physical imbalance; a vitiation of the both the energetic forces called the doshas and the body tissues. You can help treat your acne by eating a diet that brings these forces back into balance. Toxins and bacteria that aren’t released, get stored in the body for long periods of time before finally sprouting out as pimples and acne. Without the right diet, you cannot expect healthy or lasting improvement in your skin.
Keep Your Fluids Up
Staying hydrated promotes skin circulation at its base so that the skin repair doesn’t decrease. Drinking more fluids every day also improves your skin’s condition so you can have healthy, glowing skin all year around. Naturally we know that water is a staple for survival however your skin will also get huge benefits out of Green Tea, Rooibos, Kombucha and Oolong Tea.
We all know that exercise is important for maintaining a healthy body and staying fit. However, there are even more benefits of exercise than we may have realised. Exercise boosts blood flow, which nourishes your skin and decreases stress (stress can cause break outs). The more exercise – more sleep – more time for your skin to repair and revitalise.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
There is a good reason why the phrase ‘beauty sleep’ came about. When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep might just be the closest thing there is to a fountain of youth. A great night’s sleep can equal great skin health. When you are sleep-deprived, your body makes more of the stress hormone ‘cortisol’. Excess levels of cortisol in the body can lead to increased stress and inflammation, this, in turn, can damage your skin’s quality.
Introduce Plants Into Your Home
As we now know beauty sleep is important, but did you know that keeping some plants close can help you sleep better? If you are unable to sleep well and your skin is showing this, plants like Aloe Vera, Lavender, Jasmine, and Snake plant just to name a few, help change the quality of air in your bedroom and alter the environment to make it feel more refreshing.
Don’t miss exfoliation day, it is vital to your skins health. Exfoliating not only minimises the appearance of your pores and prevent breakouts, it will also help fix uneven skin tone, speed up cellular growth and prep your skin for moisture
Have a solid natural skincare regime
Cleansing and moisturising twice a day, morning and night, is vital to your skins health. Using a natural cream cleanser wont strip your skin of its natural oils and will help balance out your skin tone. A light moisturiser with beautiful ingredients such as Kakadu Plum and Davidson Plum will not only keep your skin hydrated, it will also help minimise the signs of ageing.
Konjac Sponge – a summer essential
The gentle texture and medicinal and cleansing properties of the Konjac sponge have made this natural sponge a beauty staple in Japan for over 1,500 years. Konjac fibres originate from the roots of the Konjac Tree, an East Asian plant that’s root vegetables closely resemble a yam or potato.
Konjac Sponges are rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants, which are perfect for producing beautiful sparkling skin. As a 100% bio-degradable, vegan, cruelty-free product, the Konjac Sponge is not only good for your health, but also a blessing for the environment. So much more natural and simplistically beautiful than any synthetic sponge or loofah! Purifying the skin with a Konjac Sponge prevents the appearance of unwelcome skin conditions such as blackheads and breakouts.
We invite you to dedicate 10 minutes a day to pampering yourself. Tie back your hair, put on some tunes and create a little ritual around washing away the day and giving your skin (and your self) some love.
Soak the Konjac Sponge for at least five minutes in warm water to allow it to soften
Splash your face with lukewarm water
Once the sponge is soft, gently squeeze out the excess water
Use the sponge with either a small amount of water or with a cleanser of your choice for a deeper cleanse
Exfoliate by rubbing the sponge in circular motions over your face
When you are finished cleansing, rinse and clean your Konjac Sponge and leave it to air dry
Avoid storing the sponge in direct sunlight or in humid conditions
Replace the sponge periodically to continue enjoying the benefits of this magical plant ~ a good indicator of when to do this is when the fibres start to seperate when soaked, or after 3 months.
