We couldn’t spend a month in California without heading deep into Joshua Tree and pulling a last minute shoot together… We called in our girls Ali Mitton and Chloe Chippendale (both lovelies we worked with on our Summer of Angels shoot), and found an amazing house in the middle of the desert with a sprawling cactus garden.

Joshua Tree is otherworldly. Spelly and her partner Dougall fell deeply in love with this magical place. While Spell was on set during the shoot, Dougall just drove around the desert for hours while their two boys slept in the back of the car – he couldn’t believe the beauty.

It’s no secret that our affinity with the desert grows stronger every year – we live in the lushest, greenest, subtropical part of Australia and we love it beyond words. But when it comes to capturing our collections it has to be blue skies framed with expansive space and dust (and cacti!). The light in the desert is different. Like it’s been mixed in an alchemists mortar and pestle.

We’re loving our Summer of Angels collection, it’s so darn fun! There are a few new styles in this shoot, our playdresses in Sage and Lavender, some more of our best selling Gowns, this time in Sage and Blush Sundancer. Our Gypsy tee is back, this time as a crop, and a Cactus Rose Tback dress, perfect for throwing over your swimmers.
