Spelly was adamant that we’d shoot Revolver in the Australian outback. Since we created mood boards on the walls of our design studio while we were designing the collection, she’d said “this is the shoot for the Australian Outback! Finally!” We’d waited for a collection that would work against the red landscape, and finally this one was it.

So we set out to find the perfect ghost town in the Australian outback. Sounds easy right? Not so. There were so many beautiful spots but some of them impossible (ie. too expensive) to get to and some could only be accessed by private charter plane (also out of the question and out of our budget)… But when we found Silverton, just out of Broken Hill, we knew we’d found our dusty, ochre red earthed road.

Two of our team, Lulu (set design) and Mel (shoot producer) headed out to the location a couple of days early so by the time the rest of the crew arrived they were almost locals. They’d visited thrift stores for props and set up a make-shift workshop in the carpark of our budget motel where they were painting chairs and prepping props. The bikers staying at the motel thought they were weird. They painted an “A-Team” cardboard sign to hold up as they greeted us at the airport. I think they were starting to go a bit crazy out there in the desert.

On shoot day, when we arrived at the location at sun rise Spelly ran out onto the road to explore and Ming captured a few moments (Spelly was still in her silk slip which is the silk blend slip that comes with our Bride ’16 range, coming soon!). The landscape and the sun rise was breathtaking.

The conditions were pretty brutal, the sun shone down, it was dusty and hot and there were flies everywhere. But it was so beautiful, still, quiet and peaceful. There is something so special about the Australian outback, if you haven’t had a chance to visit, please make you add that to the bucket list!
