How to Host a Beach Baby Shower
Amazing cake by Rebellyous Cake Co, Byron Bay
We have two Angels that were pregnant at once in the Spell office (bound to happen, right?) , so we decided to host a baby shower on the beach! Unfortunately for us the day we set was beautiful but the wind on the beach was inside, so we found a sandy Volleyball court near Belongil Beach where it was shielded from the wind and we were optimistic that we can make any old place look amazing (Lulu and her magic fairy dust!) so we did!
What you will need
7 poles and a stick or 8 poles
Hooks to go into the poles
5 long lengths of white fabric, varying on what size your circle will be
Rugs, blankets, cushions
Some little tables or crates
Platters, water dispensers for your food
Baby Shower Games
Find somewhere with sand or somewhere you can dig – and shielded from the wind!
Dig huge holes in the ground – about 500mm deep so your poles stay really stable – put 7 poles into a circle
Screw in hooks into the poles, if you need them – we did this to hold up our fishing line but you could actually ditch the fishing line and tie your fabric to the poles direct, we used the fishing line to keep the fabric up and have something to tie it onto!
Put in middle pole. We actually improvised with the stick in the middle – our fabric was kind if drooping in the middle so we found a stick in the bushes, dug it in!
Put your fabric up! This is the tricky part. We cut bits and tied them onto the fishing line, the poles, everywhere they could go and randomly draped across to another pole – we wanted it to look uneven and like a beautiful clothes line. It felt really dreamy when you were sitting underneath it too!
Lay down some plastic sheets if you want to protect your blanket then style up your area – we used about 4 large creamy rugs and had a spare bit of fabric from our roof to make the path going into the circle, which all of the girls loved (felt like a little bit of a red carpet!) then scatter your favourite cushions, poofs, side tables and make a special table for the cake!
GAMES WE PLAYED
-Custom decorated bibs! We got material textas and cute white bibs and people decorated them!
-We had a beautiful Triangle wall hanging made out of driftwood, we passed it around the circle and tied pieces of lace and ribbon with an intention for the baby and parents.
-Prediction and advice cards like these
Good luck with your baby showers – such a special time for you/or your friend, so it is always amazing to put some extra love into how it looks as it always makes it that little bit extra special.
